Brunei - Our First Anniversary, Part 4: Shopping Center
What trip to a foreign country would not be complete without a shopping outing?
The entrance to one of the largest shopping centers in Brunei, also a gift to the people from the Sultan. You can see the fountain in the center of the entrance. There is a staircase circling the fountain.
Our tour guide, provided to us by the Royal Brunei Airlines. He is also the source of all the information I've included here with the pics. He was quite surprised that I wanted a photo of him. Why? He asked. Well, after all, he'd been so nice to us and taken us every where, and most importantly, put up with my millions of questions, answering them so patiently. So, I wanted something to remember him by, and here it is, his photo.
Above him you can see the Bata shop, where I got my new shoes.
Behind the main entrance fountain, there is an entrance to a courtyard, with another fountain with five points.
There is an exact replica of the first shopping center facing the other one, with more shops and restaurants. We ate at an Italian restaurant to the left of this pic, and it was some of the best Italian food I've even eaten. Imagine that, great Italian food in an Asian country.
With the fountain that is pictured above this pic behind me, the view of one of the mosques from one side of the courtyard.
Then back to our 5-star motel (also courtesy of the Royal Brunei Airlines) to rest from all this running around.
(Did I mention we won this trip?)
